This Code of Conduct is intended to foster a supportive environment that promotes sportsmanship, respect, and fair play among all Surrey Pickleball Club (SPC) members. Each SPC member agrees to uphold the values and behaviours outlined here.


FAIR PLAY

  • Follow the Rules: Adhere to all official pickleball rules and any additional SPC or venue-specific guidelines.  
  • Honor Calls: Make honest line calls and accept decisions with dignity.  
  • Avoid Cheating: Engage in play that demonstrates integrity. Any form of cheating is unacceptable and violates the spirit of the game. 

RESPECT FOR OTHERS 

  • Respect Your Opponents: Treat opponents with courtesy and avoid any behavior that demeans, intimidates, or insults them.  
  • Respect Officials and Volunteers Interact respectfully with tournament staff, referees, volunteers, and play captains, recognizing their role in facilitating fair and enjoyable play.
  • Sportsmanlike Conduct: Support your partner, opponents, and others on the court. Applaud good shots and display gratitude for a well-fought match, regardless of the outcome. 

CONDUCT & BEHAVIOUR

  • No Harassment or Bullying: Derogatory, discriminatory, or harassing language (verbal, written, or online) is not tolerated.  
  • No Physical Aggression: Physical confrontations or threats of violence are strictly prohibited. 
  • Self-Control: Refrain from yelling, swearing, throwing equipment, or engaging in disruptive behavior.  

HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Safe Play: Observe safety guidelines, including proper warm-ups, hydration, and adherence to facility rules. Alert SPC play captains if courts or equipment are unsafe.  
  • Substance Use: Arrive to play free from the influence of illegal substances or excessive alcohol. 

FACILITY GUIDELINES 

  • Care for the Facilities: Treat courts, nets, balls, and equipment with respect. Report any damage or concerns promptly.  
  • Leave No Trace: Dispose of trash, recyclables, and personal items properly to keep the facility/courts clean and welcoming for all. 

RESPONSIBILITY & ACCOUNTABILITY  

  • Personal Accountability: Accept responsibility for your actions and abide by disciplinary measures if you violate the Code of Conduct.  
  • Reporting Violations: Promptly report any witnessed violations, including unsafe or disrespectful behaviour to an SPC board member or designated play captain. 

CONSEQUENCES 

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in warnings, penalties, suspension, or expulsion from Surrey Pickleball Club events and/or membership, depending on the severity or frequency of the offense. 

AGREEMENT

Members must acknowledge that they have read, understand, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct as a member of Surrey Pickleball Club.
